    @jason

    Are you retarded? you are mentioning the checking line. Morrow, perry, Bergeron are better then Zionview, Kozlov, Zaripoz. The difference is Canada’s Defence. It is way better then any team in the Tournament. How about Thorton, Crosby, Iginla, Nash, Heatley.

    How about Phanueff, Marc Savard, Boumister, Stamkos, Brad Richards, Lecaviler, and St.Louis? These guys are not even on the team and if they were availible to Russia they would not make this team? Shit ya they would. But given the format there are few teams that could win. But on Paper Canada is the best and has the most depth I think I have just proven that.

    February 4th, 2010 at 21:09 | #17

    Yes, Russia is undoubtedly good. However, just because you stack a team with stars doesn’t gurantee success. Team Canada did it not to long ago, stacked a team – and they lost. Cohesiveness is the major priority in situations involving all-star teams.

    Im canadian and even i know that no team can touch russia are you looking at the same roster as i am thats on demand scoring theyre PK is more dangerous than most teams PP dont kid your self russia will crush almost everyteam

  23. capershaun
    February 9th, 2010 at 16:34 | #23

    Sadly…Russia is too overpowering. Ovechkin can walk around anybody on his own. Add guys like Semin, Kovalchuk, Malkin, Datsyuk etc…you can’t stop that. Luongo and Fleury are overrated so if Brodeur doesn’t play like he should, we’re shot. Canada’s “D” is stellar and that is their only hope. They may take home a medal but my bet is that they won’t.

    Still… GO CANADA GO!!!!

    February 11th, 2010 at 12:47 | #26

    jason, your a moron. every single player you just listed is practically the checking line. did you happen to forget marleau, heatley, thorton, crosby, igilna, nash, staal? if ANYTHING their lines may be even, but no way in hell better than Canada. Canada could put out a 2nd team almost as good as Russia. They left off phaneuf, bowmeister, lacavalier, st louis. Other than the players you listed Russia is screwed. Im American and a huge Ovie fan like you wouldn’t believe. But seriously, just stop

    Russia is spectacular, I just am baffled people think theyre better than Canada. -

    Well.., to be honest Canada Russia, USA, Sweden, and others…., is this the OLYMPICS?, OR NHL?. I really cannot tell….professional players that that play together and make great money?, Anyone see a problem?. Look..bring back the players that are trying to make it to the NHL….Fast, hungry, blood seat and tears, thats a great player. OR better yet if you want GREAT PLAYERS, drop the amount of teams to 6 (the originals)…..You know best of the best,and go back to hard hitting, no camping in front of the net,or you get checked out. Fighting.. well it beats cheap shots and what hocky is today…SORRY…. but hocky today is whinners, complaining, alot of stupid things from player that wouldn’t wash..years ago…. How many player would actually make in the NHL if there were 6 teams?, Russia can stack its team, as well as the rest but…but they made their money and every year they play more money….starting to get my point?. College university, OHL, farm teams etc Let them play their Faster hungry…they enjoy the game, rough, hard hitting team players…….

    My opinion only

    yah russia is packed but canada has a good shot but it looks like russia is the favourite but canada and russia it will be a good match canada has more amazing players but russia has more top 10 players but all in all every team looks good but the only team russia has to worry about is canada and the only team canada has to look out for is russia. i have lots of comments to say about the olympics but im tired of talking some sence into you bozos. GO CANADA GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

    February 13th, 2010 at 21:33 | #31

    jason, you just named 3 players that are like Canadas fourth liners, your forgetting so many other players rick nash, sid crosby, thorton, heatly, marleau,teows no chance russia

  32. ryan
    February 13th, 2010 at 21:36 | #32

    and who the hell are half the players on russia, there shit

  33. Jordan
    February 14th, 2010 at 05:31 | #33

    @hockeyguy
    Absolutely ridiculous. You’re forgetting that all of Russia’s superstars play on teams where they have excellent set-up men. For example, Ovechkin wouldn’t have the numbers he has if it weren’t for Backstrom. You can’t put a bunch of snipers together on a line and expect a ton of goals. Someone has to do the dirty work, someone has to do the play-making, and someone has to put the puck in the net.
    Also, Russia doesn’t have the depth. Their defence is probably fourth or fifth best in the entire tournament, and even their third and fourth forward lines are nothing special. Canada is stacked all the way through their roster. Think about it: if the best line in the NHL (Thorton, Heatley, Marleau) are a third or fourth line for Canada, then what does that say about the rest of the players on the team?

  34. mat
    February 14th, 2010 at 14:26 | #34

    yeah no shit, russia is done for , canada is fucking stacked!!!!

  35. steve
    February 14th, 2010 at 17:36 | #35

    @hockeycrazy
    i wouldnt call russia a favourite over canada, canada has an excellent team, the focus was clearly put into chemistry more than big names which is clear by looking at seabrook and keith, perry and getzlaf(before injury)… with a guy like yzerman pickin the players you know your gonna have lines that jell

    but saying that russia and canada are the only teams in this competition?
    usa’s team may not be excellent but they definitely have a shot, and i think swedens gonna surprise a lot of people, they are strangely underrated, sedins, alfredsson, forsberg, lidstrom and lunker in net, they ll have a good run at it

    February 15th, 2010 at 02:12 | #36

    First, Canada is looking ok, crosby is going to suck against Russia. There never going to let him camp near the blue line like he usally does, He will never be as good as ovi. Russia is going to win with there hands tied behind there backs

  37. February 15th, 2010 at 10:59 | #37

    TEAM RUSSIA IS GOING TO WIN EVERYGAME, they are the best. they smoke team canada and then crosby will cry

    Stop comparing dicks, you guys…. Russia and Canada are two pretty even teams, and Russia barely beat them in the 2008 and 2009 world championships. I’m looking forward to the games, and I just want to see them actually play. Both are Great teams, it can go either way.

  40. February 16th, 2010 at 17:50 | #40

    Russia’s offense is STACKED. Canada’s Defense is a brick. Good matchup but Canada will win, all they have todo is get the puck to the point and let the D blast it w/ traffic infront.

    I think Canada will shutdown Russia with our physical play and we will have the home crowd behind us. No one here is talking about Getzlaf or Iginla they are among the 4 best players on team canada 1.Crosby 2. Getzlaf 3. Thorton 4. Iginla

    One thing for sure Canada has to stay out of the penalty box. Guys like Pronger and rookie Douhty have to stay one up on these Russian snipers. Otherwise the Russians could easily win this.

    Russia has the best players in the world right now. I am sure they gonna win. Feel bad for Canadians though, what an embarrasment again…on top of it they lost to Russia twice for the past two years.
